Autumn

ता एव सबीजः समाधिः

tā eva sabījaḥ samādhiḥ

These absorptions are all samādhi "with seed."

Yoga Sutras 1.46 · verse 46 of 196

Unfolding the thread

All the absorptions so far still rest on something, an object, however subtle. So they still carry seeds: impressions that can sprout into future thoughts and desires. It's a humble verse. Even deep states aren't the end.

Try today

Notice one habit today that keeps sprouting back. Name it as a seed, not a failure.

The Echo

The same truth, heard in another tradition

“The seed to earth committed sure must be, Ere field or garden’s pride men may it see.”
