Autumn
The quiet hour (Brahma Muhurta) is the traditional time for practice, just before sunrise.
ते ह्लादपरितापफलाः पुण्यापुण्यहेतुत्वात्
te hlāda-paritāpa-phalāḥ puṇyāpuṇya-hetutvāt
These bear the fruit of joy or sorrow, according to whether they came from good or harmful actions.
Yoga Sutras 2.14 · verse 65 of 196
Unfolding the thread
Good actions ripen as joy; harmful ones as sorrow. It's the simplest moral law there is, found in almost every tradition. Patanjali states it without sermonising, like a law of nature.
Try today
Do one kind thing today that no one will know about. Notice how it feels afterwards.
The Echo
The same truth, heard in another tradition
“Cause and effect, means and ends, seed and fruit, cannot be severed; for the effect already blooms in the cause, the end preexists in the means, the fruit in the seed.”
