द्रष्टा दृशिमात्रः शुद्धोऽपि प्रत्ययानुपश्यः

The seer is pure awareness; though pure, it appears to see through the mind.

Yoga Sutras 2.20 · verse 71 of 196

Unfolding the thread

The seer is nothing but seeing: pure, untouched. Yet it looks out through the mind's changing contents, and so seems coloured by them. Like the sun reflected in moving water, it looks broken up, though it isn't.

Try today

For one minute, notice that awareness itself hasn't changed all day, though everything it has seen has.

The Echo

The same truth, heard in another tradition

“He is the Mind within my mind: He is the Eye within mine eye.”
