Autumn

The quiet hour (Brahma Muhurta) is the traditional time for practice, just before sunrise.

तदभावात्संयोगाभावो हानं तद्दृशेः कैवल्यम्

tad-abhāvāt saṁyogābhāvo hānaṁ tad dṛśeḥ kaivalyam

When ignorance is gone, the entanglement is gone. That release is the freedom of the seer.

Yoga Sutras 2.25 · verse 76 of 196

Unfolding the thread

Take away the cause and the effect goes too. With ignorance gone, awareness is no longer confused with what it sees. That is kaivalya: aloneness, not in the sense of loneliness, but of being wholly oneself, free and complete.

Try today

Sit for a minute and rest as the one who is aware, needing nothing to be different.

The Echo

The same truth, heard in another tradition

“He for whom there is neither this nor that shore, nor both, him, the fearless and unshackled, I call indeed a Brahmana.”
