Autumn

The quiet hour (Brahma Muhurta) is the traditional time for practice, just before sunrise.

Ignorance is the field in which the others grow, whether they are dormant, weak, interrupted or fully active.

Yoga Sutras 2.4 · verse 55 of 196

Unfolding the thread

Ignorance is the soil; the other four are what grows in it. And they appear in four conditions: asleep (not showing yet), thin (weakened by practice), interrupted (held back for now by something else), or in full bloom. Knowing this, you won't be surprised when an old habit you thought was gone wakes up again.

Try today

Notice a habit that seemed gone but came back. Instead of blaming yourself, see it as a seed that was dormant.

The Echo

The same truth, heard in another tradition

“To know and yet (think) we do not know is the highest (attainment); not to know (and yet think) we do know is a disease.”
