Autumn

The quiet hour (Brahma Muhurta) is the traditional time for practice, just before sunrise.

These tendencies have no beginning, because the longing to live is eternal.

Unfolding the thread

Where did our tendencies start? Patanjali says they have no beginning, because the wish to exist, to go on, has always been there. Wanting is as old as life itself. That's not a cause for despair; it's why patience with ourselves is wise.

Try today

Notice today how strongly you want to continue: to finish things, to be here tomorrow. Honour that longing.

The Echo

The same truth, heard in another tradition

“Looking for the maker of this tabernacle, I shall have to run through a course of many births, so long as I do not find (him); and painful is birth again and again.”
