Autumn

The quiet hour (Brahma Muhurta) is the traditional time for practice, just before sunrise.

स्वप्ननिद्राज्ञानालम्बनं वा

Or by resting on what is known in dreams and in sleep.

Unfolding the thread

Even the night can teach. Some dreams leave a feeling of peace or insight you can bring into the day; deep sleep shows you, every night, a state with no worries at all. Patanjali suggests these, too, can be objects of meditation. They remind you that the anxious waking mind isn't the only one you have.

Try today

When you wake tomorrow, lie still for a minute before moving and notice the calm you've just come from.

The Echo

The same truth, heard in another tradition

“Those who dream of the banquet, wake to lamentation and sorrow. Those who dream of lamentation and sorrow wake to join the hunt. While they dream, they do not know that they dream.”
