Autumn

The quiet hour (Brahma Muhurta) is the traditional time for practice, just before sunrise.

When scattered attention declines and one-pointedness rises, this is the transformation toward absorption.

Yoga Sutras 3.11 · verse 117 of 196

Unfolding the thread

The mind that attends to everything slowly gives way to the mind that attends to one thing. Scattering fades; focus rises. Patanjali calls this a transformation of the mind itself, not just a better mood.

Try today

Do one thing at a time today, even small things like eating or reading. Notice the scatter reduce.

The Echo

The same truth, heard in another tradition

“A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.”
