Autumn
The quiet hour (Brahma Muhurta) is the traditional time for practice, just before sunrise.
ततः पुनः शान्तोदितौ तुल्यप्रत्ययौ चित्तस्यैकाग्रतापरिणामः
tataḥ punaḥ śāntoditau tulya-pratyayau cittasyaikāgratā-pariṇāmaḥ
Then, when the thought that fades and the thought that rises are the same, this is the transformation toward one-pointedness.
Yoga Sutras 3.12 · verse 118 of 196
Unfolding the thread
In deep focus, each passing moment of thought is the same as the next: the object subsides and arises again unchanged. The mind becomes steady like a flame in a windless place.
Try today
Watch your breath for a minute and notice how each breath can be met with the same, fresh attention.
The Echo
The same truth, heard in another tradition
“Good people walk on whatever befall, the good do not prattle, longing for pleasure; whether touched by happiness or sorrow wise people never appear elated or depressed.”
